How to import questions from previous examination?

For a General type exam, the following questions can be imported:

  • Questions created in an earlier General type exam

  • Questions created for a specific subject in an earlier exam

For a Subject-Specific type of exam, the following questions can be imported:

  • Questions created for the same subject in an earlier exam

  • Questions created for a subject whose subject code is the same as the subject for which you are creating an exam

You can import questions immediately after creating an exam by clicking the Import Question button at the top, or at a later time. To import questions at a later time:

  1. Click the module access icon > Academics > Examination > Online Exam > View Online Exams to open the View Online Exams page.

  2. Select a class.

  1. Select the exam for which you want to import questions.

  2. In the top right, click the Import Questions button.


For a General type exam:

Select the question type – General or Subject Specific. Questions that can be imported and already existing questions (highlighted in yellow) are listed on the left. 



If you select Subject Specific as the question type, you must then select a year and a subject code. Questions previously created for the selected subject will be listed on the left.

Note: When selecting a year, you will also see deleted years in the drop-down list.



Select the question you want to import to the current exam, enter the marks, and then click the Import button. The imported question is then highlighted in yellow. Do this for every question you want to import. 

Existing questions can be removed by selecting the question, and then clicking the Remove button.



After you have imported or removed the necessary questions, click the Finish button.


For a Subject Specific type of exam:


Select a year and a subject code. Questions that can be imported and already existing questions (highlighted in yellow) are listed on the left.

Note: When selecting a year, you will also see deleted years in the drop down list.



Select the question you want to import to the current exam, enter the marks, and then click the Import button. The imported question is then highlighted in yellow. Do this for every question you want to import. 

Existing questions can be removed by selecting the question, and then clicking the Remove button.

After you have imported or removed the necessary questions, click the Finish button.
